Decorating With Outdoor Wicker Furniture

If you think your backyard or garden area looks a bit boring and much too plain, perhaps it is time that you give it a makeover by updating your outdoor wicker furniture, if you already have some, or updating any type of outdoor furniture for that matter. A makeover does not mean that you have to throw out all of your outdoor wicker furniture and replace it with a new set. There are so many other ways that you can use to add life and color to your backyard or your patio by just updating your furniture to keep it looking its best.

Here are a few suggestions to consider:

Give your outdoor wood or wicker furniture a makeover by having it refinished, so that pieces that are faded can be given a fresh, new outlook and can be made to look like you just bought it. Other types of outdoor furniture that may have rusting metal parts can be improved upon by either replacing the rusty parts or sanding off the rust, oiling it and splashing on a layer of anti-rust paint or sealer to prevent it from rusting in future.

Add some brand new patio cushions to the furniture in various colors so that these will add a splash of pretty colors to your yard or patio. This is one of the quickest and easiest ways to add some color and decorative interest to your backyard and garden area.

If you already have a set of patio cushions to go with your wicker furniture or other type of outdoor dining furniture, then you can have the patio cushions’ covers changed. You can custom-make the covers using any type of fabric and can opt for either vibrant patterns or can choose plain, simple and yet striking colors for them to stand out brilliantly. If you don’t want to make your own patio cushion covers, you can buy patio cushion replacement covers instead.

Wicker is really an easy to care for furniture, and can be easily cleaned up by using some warm water and a cloth to wipe it down. Get rid of all the dust and built up dirt. Very often all that is needed with this type of furniture is a bit of cleaning up. If not, a quick coat of spray paint can breathe new life into your outdoor wicker furniture.

Get outdoor furniture covers to further protect all of your outdoor wicker furniture, wood furniture or even metal furniture from the elements to extend the life of the furniture.

Whatever you decide to do to improve the look of your outdoor furniture and the general look of your outdoor decor, keep in mind that outdoor furniture is just like indoor furniture in that you need to ensure that it is clean, in good condition without parts protruding out dangerously, and that it may occasionally need a bit of “updating” to keep it looking good. This kind of furniture may be made to be able to handle being outdoors and can withstand the capricious weather of rain, sun, heat and cold throughout the years, but outdoor furniture needs good proper care for a presentable image because it is subjected to so much wear and tear.
