Forget-Me-Not flower

The forget-me-not is a flower that a lot of gardeners like to plant because they can put it in areas that don’t get a lot of sun. Unlike most flowers the forget-me-not actually prefers the shade and tends to do better in cool weather. They are are a very hardy plant that can usually be relied on to bloom with little maintenance.

The forget-me-not is a quick growing plant that produces a lot of flowers. They are also quite fragrant so they will definitely give your garden a great smell. The flowers appear as clusters of blue, pink or white flowers. They are great for planting around ponds or rock gardens. They normally flower during the spring.

Some varieties of forget-me-not are perennials while others are annuals. However even the annuals tend to come back every year since they are self seeding. They tend to do best in areas that don’t get a lot of sun and aren’t to warm. They don’t need need a lot of maintenance but they do need to be planted in nutrient rich soil and they like a lot of water. It is also a good idea to prune them on a consistent basis in order to help the flowers to bloom. As you get toward the end of summer you will want to stop pruning the annuals and let the flowers die on their own, this is how they spread their seeds. If you want them to come back next year it is important that you allow this to happen.
