When moving home, whether it be into a house or apartment, one of the first appliances you will need to buy will be the washer dryer combo. They can be found in most department stores and are extremely easy to install.
When going out to buy a machine, do some initial research into the models available. Do not fall into the trap of buying the first machine you see as you may end up paying much more than you need to for a washer that has more functions than you need. A great way to save money is to buy a refurbished appliance which are often as good as new. Many engineers will give you a warranty with the purchase of your new machine.
After making your purchase, you are now going to need to install it. First of all, chose a location for your machine. It needs to be in a location with two water hose connections and an outlet. This is usually the laundry room or kitchen. Place the washer dryer next to these connections. One of the hose will have a red connector or marking which should be connected to the hose on the machine with the similar red marking. This is for the hot water supply.
The next step is to find the hose with the blue marking and connect it to the appliance hose with the similar blue marking. This will connect the cold water supply. It is essential not to mix these up, otherwise you may end up with colors running sue to the incorrect temperatures.
The next step is installation of the drain hose. To do this, find the hose with no connector on it and place it into the drain hole in the wall, which is usually located next to the water hoses. This hose allows all the water from the washing to drain away. Next we need to balance the machine. Most modern combo machines are a self balancing type. To achieve this, pull the machine towards you, to about thirty degrees and then let it go. It will adjust itself automatically. Read the manufacturers instructions beforehand though.
Now we need to look at the drying aspect of the machine. You will find a hole in the floor which is around three to five inches in diameter. This is the dryer vent outlet which directs the hot air and steam away from the machine. From a general hardware store you will need to buy an appropriate connector to connect the machine to this vent. Next is to simply plug in the dryer power cord and you are all set.
As you can see, both the buying and installation of these machines is quite simple. It is worthwhile looking out for a refurbished machine if you are on a budget, to save some money.
