If your bathroom is starting to look a little bit old and dated, there are many things you can do to make it look new and fresh. Paint is cheap and is often one of the first things people consider when they’re ready to change the look of the room. Changing the color of all the walls is certainly one way to give the room a different look than you’re used to. But consider that wall color is something that’s very static and you’ll soon get used to it, as well. Bathroom lighting, on the other hand, can be made dynamic with a dimmer switch and can add a great deal of interest to an otherwise plain room.
Before you even look at the main light fixture in the room, look at the vanity lights. These are the lights that you probably stand or sit in front of almost every day, and perhaps even more than once a day. If they’re boring, glaring, to dim or uninteresting, that could be a great deal of the problem you’re having with your bathroom. Choosing new bathroom lights for above the vanity mirror can make a big difference in your mood while you’re in the room and how inviting you find it to be.
Part of the problem could be that the bulbs aren’t bright enough for you to see clearly enough to get through your morning and evening routines fast. Dim lights can make you look washed out, and lights that are too bright might cast a lot of shadows on your face and be glaring. Choose a fixture that has enough bulbs so that you can light up the area very well and then choose a wattage of bulb that keeps the lights from being so bright that you’re uncomfortable in front of your vanity mirror. And don’t forget to choose new vanity lights that add true interest to the room with either color or some interesting details and shapes. This will change the feel of the area just as much as the quality of light.
