Tips for Cleaning A Chandelier

When you have the best chandelier lighting you can afford, it is important to make sure that you keep it clean. This will ensure that it lasts a long time, and always gives you a good level of illumination. If you don’t keep it clean the dust will soon build up, due to static, and you will be left with a tough cleaning job. This is especially true if you want to get that chandelier looking new again after a period of neglect.

I would suggest that you lightly dust it at least once a week. This will help you to keep a step ahead of the dust build up which will inevitably occur if no cleaning maintenance is preformed . Actually, this can be quite easy, just get a light dusting pad on a stick, and use it to remove the top layer of dust by giving it a good wipe down. You can always stand on something and give it a quick clean, but if you get one of those extend-able feather dusters, you’ll probably be far more likely to keep it clean. Wearing dirty clothes when doing this really is a good idea, and perhaps safety glasses too, as you’ll be standing underneath the light fixture. If you haven’t done this previously, I think you’ll find dust falls all over you in this process.

The next thing that you want to do is give it a through cleaning every few months. Put a note in your calendar to make sure you don’t forget. You don’t need any specialist equipment for this job, just a damp cloth and some time will be fine. You can use a glass cleaner on it afterwords, if you want to add some sparkle to the crystal droplets.
Keep a good stock of replacement bulbs in your home or office so you can replace any bulbs as soon as they blow out or go bad. If you choose not the replace the non-functioning light bulb, you run the risk that there is extra electricity being delivered to the other correctly working bulbs. As you can imagine, the shortens their life. Keep them all in good condition with “as needed” bulb replacement, and it will keep your chandelier looking great all the time.

If you keep your chandelier lighting well maintained it can, very possibly, last a lifetime for you. Just think, you may be able to have something that becomes an antique or heirloom, and can be handed down through generations. That is, of course, if you keep it in great working order, and keeping it clean is one important part of chandelier care.
